this is a tree that had fallen over. 
these guys were all over. very efficient scavengers! if you even just turned your head, they'd get after whatever food was even slightly visible!
this was in the visitor's center. a tree had grown around and elk skull! you can see the skull from the other side!
the ranger was showing us how to age the leaves.
